Monica Kaufman is a behavioral health executive and enterprise advisor with over 20 years of progressive leadership across inpatient behavioral health hospitals, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), community behavioral health and managed Medicaid organizations. Monica’s subject matter expertise ranges from operations, utilization management, and clinical services to revenue cycle optimization and compliance readiness. Before joining ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨, Monica served as director of clinical services at an inpatient behavioral health hospital. She led clinical operations’ transformation efforts, directing staffing, workflow, and service delivery improvements to meet patient experience and labor efficiency goals. She implemented unit-specific seven-day schedules, enhanced clinical programming, expanded weekend coverage, and improved discharge planning accuracy—driving a 150% patient satisfaction score improvement in her first 90 days.

Throughout her career, Monica has conducted enterprise operational assessments across 24 behavioral health hospitals. She has delivered executive recommendations to strengthen denial prevention, documentation quality, and reimbursement performance, and has led operational redesign efforts that significantly improved patient satisfaction in rapid timeframes. She also has direct Joint Commission survey readiness experience in inpatient behavioral health settings, including readiness ramp-ups, documentation auditing, and staff training—helping teams reinforce regulatory compliance and sustain high standards of clinical documentation.

In addition to her operational and compliance expertise, Monica is known for driving denial management and revenue cycle performance in behavioral health environments through practical, enterprise-ready utilization management strategy. She has directed utilization management strategy across 24 inpatient behavioral health hospitals—sustaining a 2% enterprise denial rate—and helped develop a centralized appeals infrastructure that improved reimbursement workflows and recovered $2.5 million in denied revenue in its first year.

Monica earned her Master of Social Work from Indiana University and her bachelor’s in social work from Goshen College. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington state; a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana, Oregon and Arizona; and a certified project manager.
